Firewall + 2 Layer Switch = Router??

Another one of the useful things I came across in my career… We had 3 different network id’s and was planning to route them. At first the plan was to go for a 3 layer switch, but it was damn costly. After doing some homework, I was damn surprised that the same can be achieved using a 2 layer switch and a firewall. Luckily we had both… Just create VLAN’s in 2 layer switch. Assign IP for them in firewall and create rules in it to route them. Wow I never imagined it to be so simple

Good internet – Still a dream in India?

For an internet freak like me a place without net is hell. I have a Tata Indicom dial-up net. It works fine where there is good signal reception, which is too bad in my place. So I taught once 3G comes I’ll be out of all these complaints and I can enjoy jet speed internet. But even 3G is dependent on signal strength Then I made up my mind to go for a wired broadband as I was posted in a place for a pretty long time. In my place the only option was BSNL. Though it sucks I made up my mind that something is better than nothing. When I approached them they denied providing me a connection. Guess the reason? It was that no existing telephone cable is passing through my house. WTF man providing new connection includes these.

So I am still a poor Indian dreaming for a decent internet. Will this dream come true??

Welcome back Naruto Shippuden

For the past few week Naruto Shippuden was really annoying. They just paused the episodes in the middle of a thrill and started putting some crap flashbacks that made me hate Naruto like hell. Last week finally they made up their mind to stop these bullshits and get to the real point. Both the episodes were awesome. I enjoyed them a lot. Thanks a lot to their anime team for stopping these bullshits

Facebook Chat in Ubuntu

Ubuntu has an inbuilt IM-Empathy, in which you can configure all your chat accounts like Gmail, Facebook,.. In it when I tried to configure my Facebook account it always gave an error that Failed to connect!!! Then I figured out how to get it working. In User-id part, just use your Facebook’s profile name. To find it out login to Facebook and click on Profile. In the address bar the last part will be your profile name. Now just enter the password and you can start chatting with your Facebook buddies.. Enjoy

Gmail Import Mails and Contacts problem

I recently migrated from Yahoo to Gmail. I decided to import all my mails in Yahoo to Gmail. First time the import went fine. But the new messages in Yahoo were not getting forwarded automatically. So I deleted all the mails I imported before and tried to re-import mails to Gmail. But what happened is only a few recent mails got imported. Even after 2 days when Gmail told that import is completed I found only a few recent mails imported. Tried again and again the same. But same few mails were imported.

Just today I got it fixed. All you have to do is just diable your Google Buzz in your Gmail and import again. Now all my mails are imported. I am not sure about the new mails forwarding part. I’ll update you once I confirm the same

One Piece Episode 470 – Review

So Luffy with his newly gathered gang is in Marine HQ. The fight gets more interesting as Luffy meets up with Mihawk, The world’s greatest swordsman. In this episode Hawkeye – Mihawk starts off his fight with Luffy. As usual Luffy dodges all his attacks. This episode showcases some of the cool moves of Mihawk. Jimbei tries to assist Luffy, But ends up getting beaten up. But Luffy strongly focusses on advancing towards his brother with Mihawk trying to stop him. Finally the episode ends up with World Government’s greatest move - An army of Pacifista.

Highlights of this Episode:

Facebook – A medium that ruins Privacy?

Like most others in this world I’m also an Internet freak who use to spend hours in Facebook with my friends. But today suddenly I started to feel Facebook as a free site where people spend hours to ruin their privacy. So you may wonder what’s the big deal. It’s the recent articles regarding Facebook that made me think like this. I read an article by McAfee which explained how Peoples life can get f***ed up by the most common things that we share in Facebook. One of them is like you share everyone that “Wow finally got a vacation to Switzerland!!” may give an idea to looters that u are out-of-town and they are welcome to rob your house(WTF man ).

Ok some(like me) may brag that my information is fully secured. But again here comes another article: 100 million Facebook users were hacked. This made me cross check my privacy setting(come on guys it’s not too late fou u yet ).

So stay secured. Make sure you change your privacy level to high and don’t add an unknown as friend and grant them full access to your account. If you badly need to flirt with some unknown in Facebook use a different account at least and stay safe

OnePiece – Lost track of Nakama

OnePiece is one of the my all-time favorite anime. Recent episode of it are as usual awesome but making all the StrawHat pirate crew are missing the action is a bit disappointing It has been a really long time since I have seen my favorite character Roronoa Zoro in action. Also this anime is getting more like a Tamil mega serials which has those useless slow motion pictures and flashbacks. I wonder why Luffy had the fate of going for an adventure alone. Though he apologised for it I still couldn’t forgive him. Can’t wait for the release of next episode. Still 2 days left to go I’m sure that I will have to wait for at least 2 more months to see the entire crew in action

Reliance Smart – Review

I am a guy who is using a GSM mobile service called Reliance Smart. They provide a cool 3 min – 1 Re. plan for all calls across India. Also Reliance is the most popular mobile service providers in India. These things made me opt for it. But when I started using it I realised that this is the worst network. According to me the cool features for Reliance Smart are:

*Late SMS feature:

This service like any other mobile services, has a good SMS local/National plans. So what makes it different from others is the main inbuilt Late SMS deliverer feature. Ok I think you are not getting my point. So I’ll share one of my personal experience with u.

On one my friend’s birthday, I sent an SMS at 12AM hoping to be the first to wish him. I opted SMS as I was not able to reach him due to network busy problem with Reliance. So he got the SMS on the next day finally. He shouted at me so badly that I remembered his birthday wrong. It took me hours to make him understand that I am an innocent poor fellow

So when u need to send SMS using it always plan accordingly and send it earlier itself.

*Moral Calls:

The plan of just Re.1 for 3 min seems amazing. For a guy like me who makes a lot of STD calls it was an offer not to miss. Ok so what else is cool about it?

It also has a good feature which I call moral calls. It means for making each call you have to try at least 10 times minimum. It will always give a message that Network Busy error when u try to make a call. But u have to keep on to make a call. Some times it may reach 50 nos of errors. So the moral of making call using reliance: Try try till u succeed and Never give up hope.

*Good feel Network Reception:

Reliance has amazing network reception. Most of the places you go you will have full tower that gives you good feel that u are always connected. But here is the tricky part – as soon as you make a call or receive a call network coverage goes to zero. So you will get in a cool policy of make calls, lose money, hear nothing.

*Globalized & Poor man customer care:

They have the excellent customer support. You choose language as English, the customer care representative who will attend you will know Hindi, local language or whatever but doesn’t understand or speak English. unbelievable but true.

The next important part is 99% of times I tried them they have such a poor service even in their office that their system will be too slow to check your details. So why the hell does a customer care exist that can’t check customer details.

So reliance customer care is not poor man’s customer care, but a customer care made by a poor man who can’t afford a good network even for themself.

So concluding the review Reliance smart is a service with no use of calls, SMS, network coverage and even customer care. So my advice is to go for a better service provider and never believe in fantasy plans like me and suffer.

What exactly can I do now?

Now a days I am getting too bored. All my entertainment stuffs (mostly PC Games ) are out-of-date. My last weekend was so boring that I decided to think and wrote 3 posts in a single day. So now I am out of stock, and have no idea about what to write about

From evening I am doing nothing but staring at my WordPress stats hoping for it to goto peak in a single day Realising that way of entertainment didn’t work out, I decided to try out new IE9 Beta. Started downloading it with my poor dial-up connection. Finally when it was downloaded and I tried to install it. Too bad the setup gave an error that my Service Pack is not updated Then I started staring at my Facebook and Gmail accounts with a hope to come across something good. But my bad luck there was nothing interesting there also Not even a single buddy to chat with as well as no new mails and interesting updates. Then I decided to do some thing so that my great effort of staring at my browser so long did not go in vain. So finally decided to write this crap

Now that the post is done I still have no idea of what to do next Let me see what happens…
